The Music Man

| October 4, 2013 | Parties National

THE PARTY Eight hundred guests dressed in their black-tie best gathered at Ravinia Festival to support the nonprofit outdoor music organization, as well as to enjoy the musical performance of world-renowned pianist Lang Lang. The gifted artist made his leap into classical stardom in Chicago in 1999 when he stepped onto the Ravinia stage at the last minute for ailing pianist Andre Watts. THE HIGHLIGHTS The evening began with a cocktail reception on the Ravinia lawn sponsored by BMO Harris Bank, followed by a flawless performance and concert by Lang Lang and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Guests moved into the grand gala marquee tent designed by Event Creative for a dinner catered by George Jewell Catering, which included innovative Asian dishes, as well as a miniature chocolate piano for each guest’s dessert. THE BOTTOM LINE The Ravinia Women’s Board, which hosts the annual gala, is the largest financial supporter of the Ravinia Festival. The impressive $1.2 million raised at this year’s gala benefits the festival’s education programs. Photos Courtesy of Ravinia Festival
