Summer Living

Share is more than a store; it's Karen O'Sullivan's dream space.

Walk into Share, and you’re transported to a chic waterfront home—it may be on the North Shore, but the vibe and decor could also be Nantucket or Door County, Wis. Blues, grays and whites mix to calm your breathing, but that won’t last for long, as Karen O’Sullivan’s mix of got-to-have-them fashion and home items will get your heart beating. “I wanted to combine the things I love most,” says O’Sullivan, who started Share a little over a year ago. “I didn’t just want a retail space; I really wanted a way to bring people together.” She found the perfect space on the second floor above Fuel and Norm’s Car Wash, with lots of windows, a kitchen and plenty of space for parties. “People have had birthday parties, girls’ nights out, fundraisers,” O’Sullivan says. She rents the space for $125 Sunday through Wednesday, and $175 Thursday through Saturday. “We can help with the caterer or not—whatever they need.” On top of that, O’Sullivan has a constantly changing mix of retail goods, trunk shows and pop-up events, like the lobster-roll dinner planned for July. “I’ll just be back from the Cape with a ton of new merchandise, and I thought a lobster dinner—Connecticut versus New England versus California—would be fun.” And because so many clients have walked into Share (or seen the terrific Instagram feed, @sharewilmette) and asked for help with their own homes, O’Sullivan has added a range of design services to her mix. “Clients have asked me to dress a table for a party—we can pull in a florist and help with a signature cocktail,” she says. Or for more extensive projects, she can redo a space top to bottom. “I like to take a house and turn it into a home,” she says. “It’s just fun to take on a lot of different projects.” Lobster-roll pop-up July 21, 6:30pm, $50, 1222 Washington Court, 2nd Floor, Wilmette, sharewilmette.com
