Sting returns to Ravinia to perform tunes from his new greatest hits album, My Songs, at two concerts in August.
One of the most hotly anticipated concerts this summer is Sting, who performs at Ravinia Aug. 23 and 24. He’s touring behind his new greatest hits album called My Songs, but don’t expect the same old tunes. Sting, who has sold over 100 million records with The Police and as a solo artist, is giving his classic arrangements a modern spin. He’s sure to perform to an enthusiastic crowd—he’s been a huge hit with Ravinia’s audiences since his first concert there in 2010.
Welz Kauffman, president and CEO of Ravinia who books all of the venue’s shows, has had the longtime goal to offer audiences a high-quality mix of contemporary acts along with classical concerts. Ravinia’s patrons love it. “Sting’s every appearance at Ravinia, including his two dates this summer, have quickly sold out,” he says. “It’s a magical combination of artist and venue.” Sting isn’t the only attention-grabbing name on the 2019 season lineup. Ravinia welcomes artists like Kesha, Queen Latifah, Common, Tash Sultana, Lake Street Dive, T.I. and Morrissey, intermixed with returning legends Itzhak Perlman and Tony Bennett. Tickets $49-$180, 418 Ravinia Park Road, Highland Park, 847.266.5100, ravinia.org
