Seeing Stars

| July 10, 2014 | Parties National

The Party
The Women’s Board of Adler Planetarium presented its annual Women in Space Science Award to Gwynne Shotwell, a Northwestern University alum and now the president and COO of the groundbreaking company SpaceX, during a luncheon at the Standard Club.

The Highlights
Shotwell made a post-luncheon trip to Adler to welcome more than 250 middle-school girls as they explored the planetarium’s many interactive exhibits and engaged with Adler’s scientists. Equally inspiring? The luncheon raised $175,000 for science, technology, engineering and math scholarships to help the next generation of innovators reach for the stars. –Photos by Dan Rest
