Rhythmic Measures

| April 8, 2016 | Parties National

The room was abuzz with 100 guests dressed in their black-tie best for Lake Forest Symphony’s benefit at the Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, themed Hot Jazz on a Cold Night.

Performances by Symphony Music Director Vladimir Kulenovic, Concertmaster Netanel Draiblate and Principal Bassoonist Drew Pattison elevated the musical affair. The evening was topped off when Kulenovic bestowed the Golden Baton to past-board president Jay L. Owen for his 10-plus years of dedication to the ensemble.

In an elegantly adorned venue, including dinner tables topped with red amaryllises, partygoers danced the night away to the Jazz Consortium Big Band. Benefit co-chairs Lynn Bruch and Gail Sturm invited guests to bid high on auction items, including a $5,000 gift certificate to Razny Jewelers, and rare wines and dining packages. The event ended on a high note, raising more than $50,000 for the symphony’s educational initiatives. -Photography by Bonnie Robinson
