The Party
Adorned in black, white and green, the Bridgeport Art Center was decorated to the nines for the Annual Benefit Party of the Women’s Board of the RIC. According to co-chair Carrie Grant, this year’s benefit was a little different from previous years, with a new venue, cocktail attire and entertainment. The tailored-chic look of the venue went hand in hand with the lavish dinner menu, which included acorn-squash bisque, peppercorn-crusted beef tenderloin and a plum almond cake topped with blueberry sauce.
The People
The 450 partygoers jumped into the spirit of the event, dancing to tunes spun by a top international DJ, Michael Smith of Los Angeles, and actively bidding on auction items, which included two pieces of Harry Winston jewelry from the Lily Cluster Collection as well as a trip to the Links House at Royal Dornoch in Scotland. Along with Carrie Grant, the event co-chairs included Britt Taner of Chicago and Kristi Brown of Kenilworth.
The Highlights
As guests began to say their goodbyes, one last surprise came when a doughnut truck pulled up with late-night goodies, leaving supporters with a satisfied sweet tooth. Even sweeter: The event raised almost $1 million to fund clinical care and groundbreaking research. –Photos by Dan Rest
