Powerful Prowess

| October 4, 2013 | Parties National

THE PARTY Though the 900 guests that attended the 36th annual Zoo Ball at the Lincoln Park Zoo were dressed to the nines in black-tie attire, they were instantly reminded of the incomparable zoo experience they had as children. The Women’s Board of the acclaimed wildlife center hosted the event, appropriately titled Wild at Heart, to celebrate the historic landmark’s past 145 years. THE SCENE It was a night of dining and dancing, as a powerful lion’s roar signaled the start of an elegant and delectable three-course meal for the attendees. Before dessert was served, a surprise musical guest, America’s favorite disco group, KC and the Sunshine Band, hit the stage and kept the guests boogying late into the night. THE HIGHLIGHTS More than $1 million was raised at the event. All of the proceeds will contribute to the Women’s Board’s goal of maintaining this special place that is the only privately managed free zoo in the nation.
