Polo, Anyone?

| October 4, 2013 | Parties National

THE PARTY The Villa Del Lago polo team played at the 4th Annual Villa Del Lago-Equestrian Connection Polo Cup charity event at Crab Tree Farm in Lake Bluff. Both the team and the farm are owned by the Zenni family of Lake Bluff. More than 300 horseback-riding and polo aficionados attended the polo match, helping to raise funds for the Equestrian Connection’s children and adult therapeutic programs. THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests enjoyed the thundering hooves of the four-legged athlete horses and swinging mallets of the Argentinean poloists while watching the four-on-four exhibition. At halftime, the crowd swarmed the field and enjoyed divot-stomping with Chicago Bear Charles “Peanut” Tillman and his family. THE BOTTOM LINE This year’s polo event raised more than $125,000 toward therapy scholarships for children and adults with special needs who require financial assistance. Founded in 2001, the Equestrian Connection services more than 300 people each week. Photography by Julie & Steve Valenti
