Paradise Found

| July 10, 2014 | Parties National

The Party
The Chicago Botanic Garden, one of the North Shore’s most beloved institutions, gave more than 350 guests a welcome taste of the tropics during Escape to Paradise, the exclusive preview party for the garden’s premiere Orchid Show.

The Scene
The festive mood began immediately upon arrival, as representatives from the Hawaiian Islands were on hand to bestow colorful orchid leis. Jaws soon dropped as guests viewed upward of 10,000 fresh, fragrant blooms cascading from floor-to-ceiling displays. Event-goers sipped exotic cocktails (topped with tiny paper umbrellas, natch)while savoring enticing bites, including lemongrass lobster in wonton shells and tempura fried orchid blossoms. Adding to the tropical theme were lighthearted hula dancers who swayed to the sounds of Aloha Lives!

The Highlights
Proceeds from the event supported the Women’s Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society’s pledge to raise $1 million for the Chicago Botanic Garden. Cheers to a blossoming future! –Photos by Robin Carlson
