Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes of Evanston hosted its annual fundraiser, the Ruby Slipper Benefit, at the Evanston Golf Club in Skokie.
Event honoree Joan Esposito, award-winning news anchor and founder of J2 Strategic Communications, and honorary chair Julie Hamos, director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, spoke about the imperative and increasing need for home-care services in our communities. Meanwhile, 145 guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, live and silent auctions, a raffle, and a video presentation by talented videographer Katie Wrobel illustrating the critical role of SASI caregivers. Live auction prizes included Wisconsin lakeside vacation homes and behind-the-goal Chicago Blackhawks tickets, while the silent auction featured getaways and seats at Chicagoland’s finest theaters, including Steppenwolf and The Goodman.
SASI aids elderly adults who need nonmedical assistance with the activities of daily life. A milestone was marked this year for the nonprofit, which grossed an all-time high of $90,000 that will benefit SASI’s programs and services provided to communities in Chicago and the surrounding north and northwest suburbs.
