The Party
Classical and philanthropic notes abounded during a performance gala conducted by the Ravinia Women’s Board to benefit the festival and the musical outreach program, Reach Teach Play.
The Scene
The black-tie and elegantly clad gala attendees had the pleasure of starting with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the expansive lawn and continued to the open-air, covered pavilion for a stunning performance by Grammy award-winning violinist Joshua Bell. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, led by James Conlon, added to the evening with a program that featured Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1.
The Highlights
Bell and Conlon first thrilled the crowd with their performances, but then they upped the evening’s wow factor when they joined the more than 700 guests for the post-concert dinner. The glamorous gala marquee decor was by Event Creative, and the menu was by Jewell Events Catering. Beyond the music, the evening was a complete success as it raised more than $1 million for Ravinia Festival and Reach Teach Play.
