THE PARTY The Women’s Board of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago held its elegant annual black-tie Medicine Ball at The Peninsula Chicago. More than 300 guests attended this year’s event to celebrate the new Ability Institute of RIC. THE HIGHLIGHTS Late summer flowers in a rich palette of orange, burgundy and green set the mood for an elegant dinner featuring crabcakes, beef filet and a chocolate ginger lemon mousse dessert. The spirited live auction, conducted by prominent Chicago auctioneer Leslie Hindman, featured spectacular diamond earrings donated by Harry Winston; a luxe Bandon Dunes golf trip, complete with transportation by private jet; and trips to the Far East, Monterey Peninsula and the Caribbean. Guests danced the night away to the music of Los Angeles DJ Chris Carter. THE BOTTOM LINE Funds raised will benefit the new Ability Institute of RIC, where exceptional clinical care will be integrated with translational science, as well as its ongoing rehabilitation medicine, research and education services for patients from around the world.
