THE PARTY Zoo Ball: Arctic Blast delighted guests with a remarkable winter wonderland in the heat of summer, thanks to frosty shades of white, towering animal ice sculptures and a glistening ice bar where attendees sampled the night’s aptly named signature cocktail: The Aurora Borealis. THE PEOPLE More than 850 animal lovers, including Lincoln Park Zoo President and CEO Kevin Bell, braved the splendidly icy affair, where, after a luxe three-course dinner, they participated in a lively raffle and silent auction. Sumptuous prizes included an rare bottle of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon and a stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago’s Presidential Suite. THE PINNACLE Before the evening drew to a close, guests got to sample an array of arctic desserts (our favorite—the blueberry blast). Then, under the tent’s stunning northern lights-inspired ceiling created by FROST Chicago, the crowd took to the dance floor, thanks to local band Dr. Bombay. The evening raised more than $1.1 million to support the zoo’s conservation and education efforts. That’s something to cozy up to! –Photos by Billy Farrell and David X Prutting/
