THE PARTY For the Women’s Board of The Field Museum’s opulent gala, and to celebrate the opening of the Cyrus Tang Hall of China—a new permanent exhibition at The Field Museum—HMR Designs transformed Stanley Field Hall with cherry blossoms, floral chandeliers and a moving bamboo wall that opened to welcome the guests into the dinner. THE PEOPLE Michael Tang and the Tang family were honored for their philanthropy by Richard Lariviere, president and CEO of the museum. THE PINNACLE The 550-plus guests had a chance to walk through the exhibit and then have a little fun with green-screen photo booths that instantly transported them to the Great Wall of China. And to complete the tourist experience, gala attendees shopped at a pop-up stall selling silk and porcelain souvenirs. All that celebrating raised $2 million to support the museum’s scientific and educational missions—a new definition of sustainable tourism! –Photos by Bob Carl and Cheri Eisenberg
