The Party
The Women’s Board of The Field Museum hosted its annual black-tie fundraiser to celebrate the museum’s new exhibition, Vodou: Sacred Powers of Haiti. The event, Caribbean Rhythms, started with steel drums, colorful displays and towering palms to transport guests out of frigid Chicago to a tropical world. During the gala, the Big Fun Steel Drum Band entertained, while the 470-plus guests had the chance to view the new exhibition, which features art and experiences from Haiti’s Vodou culture.
The People
The evening was co-chaired by Jeani Jernstedt and North Shore favorite Donna La Pietra.
The Highlights
After dinner, patrons danced the night away, thanks to the ever popular party band Lynne Jordan and the Shivers. If guests needed a quick break from the music and dancing, they could check out the tasting lounge that included Vosges Haut-Chocolat. But the sweetest treat was the $1.7 million the Women’s Board raised for The Field Museum. A magical night! –Photos by Bob Carl and Cheryl Eisenberg
