The Party
The event season is in full bloom, as the Chicago Botanic Garden hosted its 16th annual Harvest Ball, a black-tie garden party that raised $375,000 for the new Children’s Learning Garden, which is a gateway to nature for children and their families on the Learning Campus.
The People
The 350 guests were greeted with glasses of Moët & Chandon bubbly before enjoying a cocktail reception and silent auction in the Garden’s McGinley Pavilion. The evening also featured a live auction, and partygoers buzzed about the trip to a French chateau for 10 guests.
Best in Show
The tent, set on the Esplanade and overlooking the water, was filled with fairy lights and chandeliers adorned with ivy. Guests enjoyed a candlelit dinner featuring seasonally fresh fare (including a beef dish covered in a honeycomb-inspired pastry puff). The Chicago Players were the entertainment for the night, getting all the guests to boogie on the dance floor. Partygoers warmed themselves next to fire pits during the early fall evening, capping off the magical night with s’mores. Glorious gardens, indeed! -Photos by Robert Kusel
