Bloomin' Ball

The Party The Guild of the Chicago Botanic Garden hosted its 14th Annual Harvest Ball on the Botanic Garden’s beautiful autumnal grounds. The scene Created by Botanicals, the black tie garden party’s enchanting scene included glass lamps, tall wax flower topiaries, arrangements of white, pink and salmon roses, and gold gourds and pumpkins. Four-hundred-fifty guests were greeted in Nichols Hall with Mo√ęt & Chandon Champagne. Calihan Catering provided the cuisine ranging from grilled beef tenderloin with an oxtail reduction to a fudge and caramel chocolate tart. Guild members Sally Brown Thilman and Caroline Masterson co-chaired the event, which featured a silent and live auction with items including tickets to New York Fashion Week in February and a skybox at a Chicago Bears game. Gentlemen of Leisure provided the tunes as partygoers danced until the wee hours. The bottom line The event raised $400,000 to benefit the Chicago Botanic Garden’s youth and teacher education programs, which seek to inspire a lifelong interest in science and respect for the environment.
